Kinematifest: Webster University's First International Animation and Interactive Media Festival
Submission Guidelines
The mission of Kinematifest is to showcase and encourage animation and interactive media.
Our goals are:
• To give students an opportunity to have their work professionally critiqued.
• To give students the recognition of the work they've done academically in a public sphere.
• Allowing students to network with other people in the Animation and Interactive Media fields.
• To have a good time!
Kinematifest is sponsored by Webster SIGGRAPH and WebUInteractive in association with the Webster University Audio Engineering Society.
Eligibility
High School, Undergraduate, and Graduate students may submit entries in the following categories:
• 2D animation
• 3D animation
• Sequential Art (graphic novels and storyboards)
• Compositions (CG Models, Still 3D Scenes)
• Interactive Media (CD-Roms, Webpages, Video Games)
Submission Requirements
Entries must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the Webster Communication Department on or before March 17th, 2008. Each entry must be submitted with its own entry form, which can be downloaded here
Works beyond 10 minutes will not be accepted. Only the substantive work will be judged.
Animated entries must be submitted as NTSC on CD-ROM or Data DVD. Files must be 720x480 (standard definition), in either .MOV or .AVI.
Composition stills or Sequential Art should be submitted as a high quality .PDF, .TIFF, .JPG, or .PNG.
Animatic-style Sequential Art can also be accepted as either .MOV or .AVI.
Interactive Media work can be accepted on CD-ROM or at a Web Address only.
Permissions
All entrants will be required to fill out and sign our entry form, certifying that they meet the requirements, and that they hold all the rights to the materials that they have submitted. Entrants agree to allow Kinematifest and Webster University the rights to use these materials for promotional and educational purposes.
Kinematifest and iClips Network would like to include student animation on the iClips Network, one of the world's premier Internet destinations, which is a burgeoning interactive hub that enables the creating, producing, and filming of unique and world class content. Entry inclusion on the iClips Network is optional, but highly recommended. Entrants can opt-in by checking the box on the entry form.
Finalists
Finalists will be notified via email of their entry's selection by April 15th.
Winners
Winners will be awarded in each category. If none of the entries in any particular category meet the criteria for recognition, the category may be eliminated at the judges' discretion.
